Creating Your Unique Security Key
Imagine you have a special lockbox (your medical data) that you want to send through the mail (the internet).
You have a unique key that only you possess. This key is so special that not even the lockbox maker (the service provider) has a copy.
Safeguarding Your Data
Your public key turns all the contents into a jumbled mess that no one can understand without your private key. Every time you upload a medical test result, we use your public key to scramble the data.
Wiring it down
& accessing your data
You send the locked box through the mail. Even if someone intercepts it, all they see is the jumbled mess.
When you want to look at your data, you use your security key to unlock the box and see the contents clearly.
Here's the crucial part:No one else has a copy of your security key. Not the lockbox maker , not the mail carrier, no one. Only you can lock and unlock your box.
Your Backup Plan: The Recovery Phrase
We'll also give you a set of random words called a “Recovery Phrase.“ This is like a backup key. Write these words down and keep them somewhere safe . If you ever forget your security key , you can use this recovery phrase to regain the security key.
